As a music teacher, the most important things in my studio are trust, confidence, and sustainability. I create a safe studio environment to build trusting relationships so students can talk to me about anything that concerns them, whether it's repertoire, their interests, or anything that could affect their passion for music.

Building student confidence is a crucial part of my teaching. I want my students to have confidence in the uniqueness of their voices. This can be achieved through exploring and strengthening their technique, as well as their musicianship. In lessons, I focus on breathing, posture, language, resonance, vocal agility, stage presence, interpretation, listening to other singers, and reading music.

I talk about sustainability in singing as it applies to the longevity of a singer’s career, both in the short-term and long-term. It is important to me that students have a solid foundation of vocal technique and their own personal mental health acumen, as both play a critical role in becoming a successful performer. I want to give students tools they can use when practicing on their own and help them develop a practice routine, including how to manage their practice time efficiently. Goal setting is also a huge part of my teaching. By setting a long-term goal, the student and I can work as a team to build motivation and see progress over time.
